The Best 5k Themed Events
Fitness is like anything else. If you make it fun then you are more likely to workout and stay fit. There are so many great ways to do this. My sister a few years ago started doing a themed fitness event and it looked like so much fun that I decided I wanted to give it a go. When I looked online I found so many really cool events that I couldn’t decided which I would try first. I have narrowed it down to four that look and sound like a blast and a half. They call it “the happiest 5k” because its basically like a blast of laughing, running and rainbow powder. Here are some links to find the mud run.
The first one is the Mud Run. This is the one my sister has done a few times and it is awesome. Most mud runs are basically a 5k obstacle course where you run, crawl, and climb through mud. You can where fun outfits and take before and after photos. The best part is that you get to have an amazing workout while having so much fun you barely notice that you are exercising.
The Color Run
The second that I found was the color run. This is a 5k that you run and at 6 different intervals they shower you with colored powder. At the end they throw a bunch of colored powder in the air and it turns into a big dance party. You are covered in color and you can dress up to make it even more fun. The Night Color Run
After I looked at the color run I found that they also have a night color run. Its similar in that it is colored powder thrown at intervals along a 5k but its done at night with everything glowing in the dark. They have music that pulses through these great glowing the dark arches that go over the course. They also have glow bracelets that you can get that pulse with the beat of the music. Its basically a big glow in the dark race/party.
The Zombie Run
Now this last one made me laugh but also get super excited. I love the TV show “The Walking Dead” so the zombie run is right up my alley. Now the basic idea is that you run a 5k as a human if you choose and you have flags attached to your belt sort of flag football style. Then there are “zombies” or people in full zombie make up, that chase after or grab at you trying to take your flags. The objective is to get to the end of the course with at least one flag.

At many of these theme events there is a big dance party at the end. Every just celebrating and having fun. You ca usually find an event near you but if you can’t sometimes you can find local events that are similar in theme so you can still join in on the fun. It is definitely a good motivator to get moving and workout regularly so you can do one or all of these. Most aren’t something you have to be super fit to do but for me I like to use this as a reason to workout that way I can have more fun while I’m playing.
